Watch the second video at RightNow Media. Then reflect and answer the following questions.
Text 1: 1 Peter 5:6–9 How does our enemy the devil “devour” people? What does it mean to be “of sober mind”? How can that help us resist temptation? NOTE: This epistle is written to people who are suffering for their faith. They are being tempted to forsake Christ to avoid suffering. Is that kind of temptation any different from the temptations we might face to give in to hate, lust, greed, or addictions? How can humility (v. 6) help us resist the devil?
Text 2: Psalms 1:1–3 What choices does this “blessed” person make? What does this passage suggest about our relationships? Should we avoid spending time with unbelievers? NOTE: The “law” (Torah) of the Lord often includes the whole teaching of God—his Word—and not just the books of Moses or religious rules. What does the word “delight” mean to you? What do you “delight” in? What sort of “prospering” is verse 3 talking about?
Text 3: Galatians 6:1–3 How can we help others who succumb to temptation? How can we do this “gently”? See the caution at the end of verse 1? Why is that important to consider? NOTE: The “law of Christ” is an unusual phrase, but it probably refers back to the command Jesus gave his disciples in John 13:33—“Love one another.” What does verse 2 mean by “burdens”? How can we “carry” them? Verse 3 warns against pride. Why is this especially problematic as we help each other deal with temptation?
